This past Friday, 20 January 2012, a delegation from Tilburg Law School (Holland) visited the Campus of Santa Cruz la Real in order to learn about the academic projects at IE University and the unique characteristics of IE Law School.

The Dutch delegation, led by its dean Randall Lessafer, participated in talks with members from the host IE Law School, in particular Soledad Atienza, Director of LL.B., Carlos de la Pedraja, Director of Executive Education and LL.M. Programs, and Marie Jose Garot, Director of Legal Studies.  Each introduced a number of current projects at the school as well as the details of the undergraduate, graduate and executive programs. Likewise, they were able to display the modern infrastructures of the university, which are outfitted with state of the art technology in its study and classrooms.

The Dutch representatives were impressed by the innovative nature, international focus, and strong humanist character which IE University develops through all of its academic programs.

Following a guided tour of the ancient convent of Santa Cruz la Real de Segovia, seat of IE University and a monument to the XV century, representatives from both schools worked together in analyzing future collaborative efforts in teaching, research and the exchange of students and faculty.

Tilburg Law School is one of the most recognized European institutions for legal research. Its dean, Randall Lessafer, is an authority on the history of law.  As such, a number of students from the LL.B. were delighted to take advantage of this visit by discussing with him issues related to his most recent books, which are obligatory reading in their legal studies. Professor Lessafer’s research focuses on both historical and current developments in international legal order.
