This past January 31, 2012, professionals from both legal and human resources sectors attended the presentation of the Comparative Analysis of Wages in Law Firms in Spain during the year 2011.   This study was developed by the consultancy firm Signium International.

The event was held at IE Law School´s main assembly hall, chaired by Ignacio Bao, president of Signium International, and moderated by José María de Areilza, Dean of IE Law School. Also participating in the conference were Carolina Banegas, senior associate of the consultancy firm and Carlos de la Pedraja, Director of LL.M. Programs and Executive Education at IE Law School.

The study analyzes the salary bands of lawyers working in both international and national firms as well as the Big Four and reveals how, in general terms, all professional categories experienced a pay increase during 2011. This demonstrates a concerted effort within the business law sector in order to adapt to the current situation. During the event, the increasing importance of flexible payment formulas was discussed as a useful tool to maintain lawyers´ loyalty.
